Baltic Tricompax Panda & Reverse Panda
If you have a good memory, you’ll remember that I wrote about a similar watch a few months ago! This particular watch is also a chronograph, but a little bit different You can read that article here.
First of all a few important things. These two chronographs will go on pre-order on December 1st at 4pm (Paris time). The first 200 units of the Tricompax Panda and Reverse Panda will be numbered with an engraved case back from 1 to 200. These two models will join our permanent collection afterwards.
You can check out the Tricompax collection here.
The first look is as important at a watch as it is at a wedding when you see the bride. This is the moment that decides if you really want to be with her. At first glance, the watch reminds me of the famous Paul Newman Daytona. That means for me: YES.
These watches are designed for motor racing. I love how they are both classic and sporty in the same time. The Panda and Reverse Panda dials are really famous among watch enthusiasts these days, but I have to say that they always have been and always will be.
“Encircled by a brushed aluminum tachymeter bezel, the panda/reverse dial in a light beige matte/black semi-gloss finish is composed of three black/beige guilloche registers and applied hour markers. The polished steel dauphine hour and minute hands and triangular markers on the railroad are coated with Super-LumiNova® BGW9 for perfect readability in the dark.”
It has a black aluminum tachymeter bezel which is marked from 50-200. The glass is a double dome sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating which is a pretty good choice. You can find 2 chronograph buttons on the right side and a marked crown with a „B” on it. The watch has a 50M water resistance, actually I didn’t expect anything else, it is enough for a chronograph.
The watch hase a stainless steel 39,5mm case with a 47mm lug to lug size and a 13.5mm thickness. The first 200 units of the Tricompax Pandaand Reverse Panda will be numbered (i.e.400 numbered watches) with an engraved case back from 1 to 200.
“The Tricompax Panda is equipped with a SW510-M caliber, a mechanical hand-wound chronograph movement developed by the Swiss manufacturer Sellita. With over 60 hours of power reserve, this complication movement is known for its exemplary reliability and robustness.” A wise choice for this piece, it has the same movement as the Tricompax Baltic x Peter Auto had.
It comes with a really cool and sporty bracelet, which is inspired by the 70’s. It is a flat link bracelet which provides more flexibility than the usual bracelets. It is sporty and elegant in the same time. Beautifully brushed and polished as well.
The prices. The Tricompax on leather strap will be 1585€ (without VAT) and on Flat-Link bracelet it will cost 1645€ (without VAT).
The watches will be assembled in France!
The verdict: This is a mesmerising watch with some classical and vintage elements combined with modern features. Definitely not a watch you see everyday on the streets.
