Interview with Hans Peter from Technik 4X!
Please tell me a little about yourselves. Where do you come from, where do you live, what are you doing a single day, your hobbies?
Born in 1947 in Switzerland, in the city of Grenchen, I started to work in the watch industry in 1962! Study as an Engineer, I learned at first how to build and follow up by construction and technical drawings the process of production of parts for movements and watches!
After this experience, I was managing the purchasing and quality controlling for parts, which have been produced in countries all over the world. After travelling around for several watch brands, I opened 25 years ago an office in Hongkong, where I stay always about for 8 month per year! However, my main residence is still in Switzerland. I used to love playing soccer and tennis, as well as alpine-skiing. Today I like to go hiking and play golf.
When did the idea for your own watch brand come up? What was the trigger?!
Inspired by my enthusiasm for design and new technologies, often initiated by the car industry, as well as for the environmental protection, my dream of my own watch brand is finally coming up in 2018! For me, the trigger was, to have the possibility to realize a HYBRID watch!
Tell me some specifications about the watch!
I am using an automatic and a solar movement to build up my Hybrid watch! (SOLAR quartz movement EPSON VS17A, AUTOMATIC mechanical movement SEIKO/SII NH05B DATE)
Booth are powered by clean energy and can display two different time zones. At the same time, you can compare the accuracy as well as the running time between these 2 different movement technologies.
How was the name and the logo created and what exactly does it mean?
My passions are in general technically inspired! The meaning of TECHNIK 4X is TECHNIK FOR TIME ! Or like for calculation: multiply 4 X 1 or 4 X 2 or 4 X 3 or ……
How did you come up with this design?
I wanted to have a quite classical design look, but using some new technical construction, mainly for the case-part. Having as well other features, like the SEE TROUGH/SKELETON look and the possibility to add a 3D-Look or some other additional functions in the space between the 2 movements!
Are you making the watches or you hired a professional watchmaker?
The design and technical drawings, the follow up of the production and the quality check I do together with my staffs in Hongkong. The assembling of the watches is done in Japan, China and Switzerland by professional watchmakers.
Are you planning to make other types of watches as well or only dual time watches?
My goal is to produce watches that respect the environment, taking into account the new technologies and designs, so like my hybrid watch.
How many different colors/types are available?
The current collection includes 4 basic models, and soon 4 more basic models will be available too.
In addition, 2 Meche-bracelets and 4 colored nylon-straps are available.

The price of a TECHNIK 4X Dual Time Hybrid watch ranges from CHF519.00 and CHF579.00.
